The Dandy sleep appliance
Digitally designed, 3D-printed, and custom-made for your mouth alone – the Dandy sleep appliance brings modern manufacturing to a proven therapy for snoring and mild to moderate obstructive sleep apnea.
Why we chose Dandy
Old-fashioned appliances were the weak link. Not anymore.
Traditional sleep appliances involved goopy impressions, weeks of waiting, bulky acrylic, and metal hardware. The Dandy sleep appliance replaces all of that with a fully digital workflow: we take a precise intraoral scan of your teeth, and Dandy’s digital dental lab 3D-prints your appliance in premium medical-grade nylon.
The result is a thin, lightweight, metal-free, two-piece device that preserves tongue space, allows natural jaw movement, and holds your lower jaw gently forward through the night – quieting snoring and keeping the airway open.
Turnaround is fast, too: appliances are typically fabricated and delivered in about 11 days, so you’re sleeping better sooner.
Feature by feature
What makes the Dandy appliance different
3D-printed nylon
Printed - not hand-molded - from durable medical-grade nylon for consistent precision, a thin profile, and outstanding strength without bulk.
Metal-free, two-piece design
Separate upper and lower trays with no metal hardware - more comfortable against your cheeks and tongue, and friendlier for travel and cleaning.
Precisely adjustable
Jaw advancement can be titrated in small steps over your follow-up visits, so we find the sweet spot between maximum comfort and maximum effect.
Digital scan, not impressions
Your fit starts with a fast, gag-free intraoral scan at our office - dramatically more accurate (and more pleasant) than impression putty.
~11-day turnaround
Dandy's digital lab fabricates and ships appliances in as little as 11 days, so the gap between your scan and your first quiet night stays short.
Insurance-friendly
Custom-fabricated appliances like this one are commonly billed through medical insurance for diagnosed OSA - and may qualify for Medicare coverage. We'll help you navigate it.
Your Dandy timeline
From scan to sound sleep
1
Scan day
After your consultation and confirmed OSA diagnosis, we capture a digital scan of your teeth and bite – it takes minutes and involves zero impression goop.
2
Fabrication
Dandy’s digital lab designs and 3D-prints your custom nylon appliance to the exact geometry of your mouth, typically within about 11 days.
3
Fitting & fine-tuning
We seat the appliance, verify comfort, and teach you insertion, removal, and care. Follow-up visits adjust the advancement until your snoring and symptoms are controlled.
Adjusting is normal - and temporary
Like any custom oral appliance, the Dandy device can bring an adjustment period: mild jaw or tooth soreness, extra salivation, or dry mouth in the first days. These effects typically fade quickly, and your follow-up visits ensure the fit keeps getting better.
